ARTISTIC PRACTICE

My work moves between performance, visual art, film, wearable art and socially engaged practice. Each project begins with a question rather than a chosen medium.

As a dancer, performer and maker, I have always understood the body as both memory and material. It carries experience, vulnerability, resistance and joy. Even when dance is no longer visible, the body remains present in every work I create.

I rarely begin with a material. I begin with a question. The material reveals itself through the process. Sometimes it becomes performance. Sometimes film, wearable art or even a specially made pastry.

Each work asks to become what it needs to be.

I often work slowly.

Through the act of making, ideas have time to unfold. Materials and objects carry their own histories, yet they can be transformed and charged with new meaning. The process allows me to discover what the work is becoming while I am making it.

 

HER STORY is an ongoing artistic practice exploring women's lives, histories and experiences through exhibitions, wearable art, socially engaged projects and public conversations.

It is not one project, but an expanding body of work where different expressions grow from the same artistic questions.

 

Some projects invite participation because certain questions cannot be explored alone.

I SAID NO begins with the voices of others. HER STORY often begins with my own voice.

That difference shapes the work from the very beginning.

In I SAID NO, the stories begin with other women. Entrusted to me, their stories are transformed into a shared sculptural work.

It is a different artistic method.

Collaboration has always been central to my practice. Working with other artists, researchers, artisans and communities allows the work to grow beyond my own perspective.

Each finished project invites me to delve deeper into the next question.
That is why I keep making.
